Our Five Speakers & Their Topics

Dr Lynn Miller

The Drug Pyramid and Wildlife Rehabilitation

This presentation will take you through the Drug Pyramid. What is it, and how do we as professional wildlife rehabilitators use this knowledge to care for our patients, while ensuring we are using the necessary drugs responsibly.

Bridey White

Managing Oiled Wildlife – The Pathway From Intake to Release

Oiled wildlife rehabilitation is a key component of an oil spill response. Generally, rehabilitation of wildlife is the process of removing from the wild and caring for, injured, orphaned, oiled or sick wild animals.

Dr Janelle Ward

Triage Decision Making for Injured Wild Birds

Dr Janelle Ward (DOC) will discuss criteria and recommendations for the release (or euthanasia) of wild birds with permanent disabilities, based on an extensive literature review.

Pauline Nijman

Physical exam and considerations for their findings

This presentation will look at a methodical approach to the physical exam, how to assess different systems, what to look for and common ailments that may present.

Annemieke Hendriks

Perfect Partners: Bird Banding and Rehab

This presentation delves into the benefits to both partners of marking wildlife before release, and how to become certified in the marking process.
